Several projects are “built upon” each class, so that students experience a variety of mediums and take home several projects. During our days together at Hilltop Creative Summer Camp we will start our mornings off with free exploration, morning greetings, snack and an indoor creative activity. We will have outdoor time on neighborhood hikes and also will visit our local playgrounds and recreational areas Bernal Heights, Holly Park and St Mary's. Towards the end of the day we will gather indoors and will have an afternoon snack provided by Hilltop Creative. Viva La Música en Español! Canta y Baila Conmigo, is the very best research-based program that combines music education and language immersion. Intended for both the native Spanish speakers and eager Spanish learners, Canta y Baila is enriching and fun! Offering a playful, interactive atmosphere where language learning is integrated naturally and organically in the musical experience. Spend a semester applying elements of story and musical theatre in writing scenes that incorporate songs (either popular or original*), and workshopping with your classmates for performances at the end of the semester. Equal parts story & script writing, theatrical staging, and musical performance, we will focus on the creative process and collaborative nature of writing and putting a scene to paper, stage, and music. Class time will include writing to prompts, sharing with peers, editing, and blocking for performance. This class may count as a performing arts elective or creative writing course for the semester. *Songwriting will not be taught in this class- students will be encouraged to use recorded songs (any genre) in their scenes, as found in jukebox musicals. However young songwriters are welcome to incorporate their original music if they would like. Required: IEW or other creative writing foundation, and ability to format and print scripts from home.

Calling all young writers, illustrators, and storytellers! In this creative and inspiring workshop, students will dream up, write, illustrate, and bind their very own handmade books. Throughout the week, artists will explore what makes a story come alive—memorable characters, vivid settings, exciting conflicts, and imaginative details. Students may create stories inspired by summer adventures, fantasy worlds, friendships, mysteries, nature, family memories, or entirely original ideas. Guided prompts and brainstorming activities will help each child find a story they’re excited to tell. As writers and artists, students will develop their story structure, design their pages, create illustrations, and think about how words and images work together to create meaning. They’ll receive support and encouragement along the way, while also having room to make creative choices and develop their own voice. To complete their books, students will design a mixed-media cover and bind their pages together with ribbon, creating a beautiful handmade keepsake to take home and share. Perfect for imaginative kids who love writing, drawing, storytelling, and bringing original ideas to life!

Students will assume the role of a doctor and continue to learn how the body and organs work beyond the Beginner Camp focusing on additional organ systems. Each student receives their own medical kit and supplies. Each child receives a diploma as a graduate of Little Medical School at the completion of the course. Day 1: Wonderful Brain 1. In a full-day camp, students rotate between four hands-on activities each day: robotics, coding, general science, and EE (electricity/electronics). In a half-day camp, campers will have hands-on activities in two subjects per half-day. Campers progress along their individualized learning plans for all four subject areas, so even if they attend camp for multiple weeks, they'll continue to have new builds, skills, and challenges, based on their progress! *Please send your camper with a water bottle, snack, and lunch!

Budding artists capturing multiple objects tend to begin with the largest or most attractive one first, finish it, and move on to the next. By studying multiple object composition, line and air perspective, as well as color mixing, students learn to depict multiple three-dimensional objects and build a solid foundation for future artistic study. Our academic method of teaching will open the eyes and minds of aspiring artists to see the myriad of colors and tones in everyday objects. With these foundational skills, students will learn techniques to express their creativity. Classes alternate between Drawing and Painting on a weekly basis. All skill levels welcome. Students will learn to draw and paint multiple objects as a group taking into account proportions, depth, structures, along with light and shadows. Using acrylic or oil, students will flex these core principles of composition to attain the freedom to draw and paint three-dimensional still-life, landscapes and fictional paintings. Procuring painting and drawing materials are the responsibility of each student, but we are of course happy to advise which ones we think are best.

Now that your child has increased his or her language skills, experienced high/low, has marched to the steady beat, and has the rhythm all inside, let's apply those concepts directly to the piano! We will learn the scale, listen to famous composers and famous piano pieces, make music with sound stories, learn musical terms, strengthen our fingers, work on proper posture and hand position, learn quarter notes and half notes, and letters C,D,E all before private music lessons begin! Melody Makers is a solid foundation for piano or private music instruction! Plus, everything is better with new friends! Classes are 1 hour long each week. This camp is for children who are used to being in a classroom setting. Campers will focus on easy STEM and OUTDOOR activities and crafts, learn independence, socialization, sharing/taking turns, and blossom into their own personalities. RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE AT LEAST 3 HOURS IN ADVANCE as materials must be prepared in advance.
